Description
A complex yuzushu for which only the best fruit was used. Most yuzushu is sweetened with cane sugar, but Azuma Rikishi prefers to use honey, which they produce themselves. A slightly bitter touch to the end adds to the complexity, making this a perfect digestif.
Producer
Azuma Rikishi
Azuma Rikishi was founded in 1849, and is still owned by the founding family. The brewery is located in Tochigi prefecture, the region you would not always associate with the very best sake. Much of the sake is consumed locally, and with Nikko Shrine as one of Japan’s biggest tourist attraction, most of the sake produced here is smooth, accessible and a little sweet as to please as many people as possible. It's this last aspect that we take advantage of here, because it's this soft, slightly sweet sake that forms the basis of a truly beautiful Yuzushu.
